Adaze was looking sick this morning. Oku asked her if he could buy her biscuits and Lucozade but she refused. I decided she would take food from me because we are good friends so I tidied my house and made her jam sandwiches and biscuits and squash. I called her and said I needed her to do something for me. When she saw the food she was very pleased and asked if she was suppose to eat all. She ate up and even ate more sandwiches so I was pleased to see her feeling a bit brighter. She admired all the books in the guest house bookcase and told me she used to enjoy reading before she got sick. She said she loved to read Shakespeare and Chinua Achebe and named some other famous novels. Since becoming mentally ill she finds it hard to remember what she has just read and it makes her feel frustrated and unhappy. I lent her a book of African Tales because I felt they would be easy to read and she may even know the story already so it would be easy.
Rev Kenneth came to find me and said it was a good day for going to the market to buy some more goats to keep my golden goat company. We picked a baby girl and a baby boy. The boy was stubborn and the man had to carry him by his legs to get him into our car. I lead the girl to the car and she walked with me happily. Everyone though it was funny that I was buying a goat and asked how I would take it back to England, if I would buy it a plane ticket. The goats like each other a lot and were keen to get closely acquainted in the back of the car. I told Rev we would be hearing the patter of tiny hooves before long!
